I guess its because your eyes don’t function in the standard way so you need a little help. It’s all about how the eyes focus light. If the eyes focus light in front of the retina everything in the distance can be fuzzy. If light is focussed behind the retina, everything closer to you (like books) can be fuzzy. Glasses correct these conditions so the light is focussed correctly on the retina.

It might be that one or both of your eyeballs are slightly mis-shapen (apparently my right eyeball is the wrong shape).

Some of us (I wear glasses too) don’t have perfect vision. This can be for several reasons.

To see clearly, light enters your eye, and is bent by the lens in your eye to focus the light onto the back of your eye, called the retina. If they light isn’t perfectly focused, things can look fuzzy just like a camera out of focus.

The most common reason is that your eyes are shaped so that light enters your eye but isn’t focused by the lens in your eye onto your retina. The lenses in your glasses bend the light before it gets to your eyes so that it’s focused properly on your retina and you can see clearly.

You wear glasses as the lenses in your eyes do not focus the light correctly to allow you to see – the glasses simply correct for that allowing the light to correctly hit the back of your eye.

In more detail to see you need the light focussed at the back of your eye otherwise the world looks fuzzy – to do this our eyes have lenses but sometimes they aren’t quite the right shape (the exact shape depends on distance of the object) so people need glasses to help correct for this. As it depends on distance sometimes people only need glasses for close stuff or far away stuff

      Hope that answers your qu

Because your eyes don’t work as well as they could….

Glasses allow us to “fix” small defects in the eyes, that mean you can’t focus light properly. So thing slook blurry, unless you wear your glasses – this corrects the light as it passes into your eye, allowing you to see clearly.

I use “glasses” to study stars – telescopes allow us to gather light and study it in real detail – but my “glasses” are usually 2-metres in diameter, so not great to put on your face….
