      We don’t know.

The earliest forms of life were single-celled organisms. how did they come to be?

They could have evolved here on Earth or they could have come here on one of the meteorites that used to batter our planet in its `youth’.

How would we know if we weren’t alive? Biologically because our hearts and lungs and cells and nervous systems keep working even when we don’t think of them. Philosophically to learn about and enjoy the world around us.

Well it depends in biology something that is capable of self replication is defined as being alive

So we are alive because we are able to self replication
