Volcanoes are erupting on Earth all th etime – it is one ogf the ways that the Earth loses energy and slowly cools down. It’s a very natural process, but sometime sit can have dramatic effects for humans – not just disrupting air travel, but killing many people (just thing about Vesuvius…). But it is an essential geological process.

Yes it probably will as the centre of the earth is quite volatile so there will be more volcanoes – indeed there are many volcanoes erupting all the time you only hear about a few as only a few effect us!

Yes. I think there are lots of active volcanoes on this planet, so the chances of another eruption is 100%.

The nature of our planet and the fact its made up of enormous plates below the surface which move around (albeit very slowly) means that more volcanoes will erupt. We heard a lot about the one in Iceland because it affected our airports and stopped us flying for a while but many others around the world are active and erupt frequently. We just don’t hear about them so often because they don’t affect us.

I have no idea, but I hope not, the first one was very disruptive!

The earth is still very much a dynamic planet as things like this remind us!
