The answer to this changes weekly as I read more and more about insects! At the moment, my favourite insects are Dracula ants. Dracula ants can’t eat solid food, so they feed solids to their larvae (their young) and then drink the haemolymph (insect blood) of their larvae, giving them their name (this behaviour doesn’t seem to harm the larvae, though). Some species of Dracula ant can also snap their jaws together at over 200 miles per hour!
But my all-time favourite insects are the bees! There are over 20,000 species of bee in the world, and they are some of the most efficient insect pollinators anywhere.
