Question: what do you specifically do in your job?

I work for a company that makes heat batteries, and I’m trying to find new materials for them. I take the materials we’re looking at using and do quick experiments to find out how well they work (do they melt and freeze under the conditions we want to use, do the crystals change over time etc). Then I work out what the problems are and try to solve them! This is usually by adding things to the material, sometimes something specific, but other times I do what’s called a screen, where I take lots of different things and add them to small samples. If any seem to work well then I’ll try again with bigger amounts. If it works really well, the company might test it on a bigger scale!
