      I’m doing nuclear physics! Specifically, I’m using particle accelerators to collide nuclei with each other, which transfers individual protons and neutrons between them. We can learn a lot about how nuclei work by doing this!

      Literally right now I’m trying to correct the bits my automatic spectrum analysis tool got wrong. Machines aren’t perfect yet!

      I am part of a group that is trying to test whether we can use weather radar systems (like the ones the Met Office use) to measure insect density/activity in the lower atmosphere (100m – 1500m). If we can, this will allow us to create a weather map for the whole UK that measures insects instead of weather patterns! This will help us to answer questions about how insect communities are reacting to things like increased pesticide use in farmland, climate change, and habitat restoration.
