I wouldn’t say I had role models who I tried to copy, but I really liked the way the Mythbusters on TV would see weird things that people say and believe and then actually look to see if it was true, rather than just not thinking about it. This taught me that I could both look stuff up for myself, and that I couldn’t always rely on stuff that people (including myself!) take for granted.

David Attenborough, forever and always. I also used to watch this program called the Really Wild Show after school, which was all about animals and the presenters were really cool. My GCSE chemistry teacher was amazing, too – he’d worked in industry for years and used to tell us stories about science that really got us involved in what we were learning about (and let us do some fairly dangerous experiments that I don’t think you’d be allowed to do now…). Also, my parents, because they were always telling me to do what I enjoyed.
