• Question: can you make your own crystals?

      Yes I can 🙂 All the materials I work with crystallise and release heat. I try adding things to them to see if I can make them grow faster or slower and in different shapes or sizes.

      Or do you mean can anybody? Because that’s easy too 🙂 Dissolve three parts of sugar in one part of hot water and pour it into a clean glass or jam jar (you can also add food colouring now if you want). Tie a piece of cotton to pencil and lay the pencil across the jar so the thread dangles in. Cover the top with a piece of kitchen roll to stop dust getting in, and leave it for a couple of days. Keep checking on it, and you’ll see crystals will grow on the string!
