It’s difficult to say! We know neither how likely intelligent life is, how long it tends to last, nor how big the universe is. I would say that there is intelligent life out there, but we’ll never end up meeting them because they’re too far away! We might see them though. We’re beginning to get technology advanced enough to see the composition of the atmosphere of exoplanets. If we see oxygen – that means there’s probably life (we don’t know anything else that can create a self-sustaining oxygen environment). We might just discover aliens in our lifetime! Intelligent life though – who knows?
