• Question: what would you do if an experiment went wrong?

      I would repeat it thinking about why it went wrong.

      It happens quite often actually. You can’t always predict what might go wrong.

      I will try and find out why it went and repeat the process differently or more carefully. I am persistent – I will keep repeating it over and over until I get it right.

      Document everything, have a good think about what went wrong and why. Then, if I am sure I know what the problem was, if I think I can get it right and if it is safe to do so, then I’ll try again.

      I would be careful to understand what I did, and to work out why something didnt go quite right. You should always keep a record – a lab note book – of everything you do so that you can check back and look at what you have done. Science is trial and error – things go wrong all the time!
