Cells are the building blocks of all life, and they contain everything you need to survive. They are split into different areas, and each area does a different but important job. There is the nucleus, where the DNA is kept, and this is like the central computer, telling the cell what it needs to do. There are the mitochondria, which are like little power plants. They take food and turn them into energy that power that we need to live. There are lots and lots of other parts that each do their own job to make sure the cell stays alive.
Cells are also really versatile. They can be brain, muscle, skin, blood, bone, and lots more beside. This is the real reason we are made from cells, because they are much much more versatile than jelly, or bricks or butter, they can do thousands of different things that make up a person.
