• Question: Its not whether what came first the chicken or the egg but who created the chicken/egg?

      Yes, the egg evolved first, because chickens are birds, which evolved from dinosaurs, which laid eggs.

      I agree with Steve and Sam, although of course you are taking the question back to “Well, who created the Dinosaurs then?”. And the answer is similar, something that wasn’t quite a dinosaur but from which dinosaurs evovled. You can go on and on backwards through evolution until you hit the time when no organisms laid eggs – which is actually a looong way back (like, 500 milion years or earlier). So then you have to work out how eggs came into being – perhaps as a little protective coat for the fertilized egg cell of some organism?
