The ozone layer is about 12 to 19 miles above our heads at the bottom part of the stratosphere and it is made of mostly ozone! At out level oxygen exists as O2, or two atoms of oxygen together in a pair. Ozone is when three atoms of oxygen come together, or O3. This is mainly done by the UV light that comes from the Sun and by that the ozone layer takes in the UV light and protects us from it (UV light can be dangerous to us and even cause skin cancer).
