      Hi 294eura48!

      Good question – it’s a tough one!

Crude oil is what we call a ‘non-renewable’ resource, so when we use it all up, it’ll be gone forever. We extract lots of it from oil rigs out in the North Sea, and the process is a very dangerous one. When we burn it, it produces really harmful toxins like C02, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide, which are harmful to our atmosphere.
Unfortunately the world is extremely reliant on crude oil, and we haven’t come up with very many other sources of energy, so when it starts to run out it’s going to get very expensive. I think if we can find a renewable energy source, then we should stop taking the oil out of the ground, but since we don’t really have that I guess we just need to find some more eco-friendly ways to collect it and use it!

Thanks for the question, I hope I helped!

      Ali
