MND can be caused by different things such as lifestyle, environment, chemical exposure, and of course in some cases it is genetic.
Our nerves use messenger chemicals to send instructions, and sometimes we have too much or too little of this chemical messenger, so it affects how well our nerves work. Sometimes there is just too much toxic build up in our cells, and it negatively affects our neurones.
Genetically, sometimes a gene is deleted or mutated in our DNA, which means that we can’t do whatever that gene was programmed to do, which means our nerves end up not working for one reason or another.
