• Question: What was you dream job when you were in secondary?

      My dream job was to be a doctor. Initially it was a doctor of medicine but in the end this changed to a research doctor/scientist. I am currently doing a PhD degree which means I will be a research doctor by the end of it.

      I had no idea what I wanted to do in high school. I wanted to do something that would allow me to have fun. It was actually only in university that I realised that what I found most fun was learning new things!

      I wanted to do all sorts of things – I wanted to be an author, then a lawyer, then a medical doctor. By the time I was 18 I just decided to study biology because that was what I liked, and then go from there! I could not have guessed that I would be doing a PhD when I was in secondary, you kind of just have to go with what is interesting at each point in your life!

      My dream job was to be an inventor! I get to do this in a way – I’ve coded some small software applications. I hope to do this more in future!

      I don’t know if I had a dream job when I was in secondary school. I wanted to be many things! I wanted to be a humanitarian worker helping in the poorest countries in the world, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to become a painter too… So many of them were my dream job!
