Yeah, an anatomy question, great! Well, do you know what snot is and why we have it? Its actually a good thing cos it helps your body stop bad things like dust and germs get into your nose! Once it’s in your nose, it can get all the way into your body so the snot is there to act like a sticky glue to trap the horrible stuff from going any further! You have special tissue that lines the inside of your nose, and further into your head (into a space called the nasal cavity) that produces snot and tries to keep the bad stuff out. When you have a cold, or you sniff something that irritates your nose you might get more snot produced (a ‘runny nose’) and this helps to keep you protected. Sneezing is also a way to help protect you, as the air you force out during a sneeze SHOULD force the snot out of your nostrils (hopefully into a tissue…. but you never know! 😉 ) and take the nasty stuff with it. So…. snot comes out of your nostrils but that’s a good thing because it is helping you! It can also come out of your mouth too, because the back of your nose and the back of your mouth are actually connected!
Oh and the real name for snot is ‘mucus’ or ‘phlegm’ but it’s probably “snot” as funny 🙂
