My most exciting experiment looked at whether we could predict what would happen to peoples memories after they had brain surgery. We tests 100’s of people before and after their operations and worked out which ones got better and which ones didn’t and why. We now use this information to help make sure that people’s memories aren’t affected too much when hey have a brain operation.

My most exciting experiment was when I used camera traps to look at whether brown hares which are not native to Ireland were competing with Irish hares, which exist nowhere else. Camera traps had never been used to study hares in this way before and we were using a new method of counting how many of each species were in an area. We spent a lot of time and money without really knowing if our experiment would work. Happily, it did, and we got lots of great information, as well as the first footage of both species in the same place at the same time. This work was really important for the future conservation of the Irish hare.
