I haven’t really done any risky experiments – when you experiment with people its quite important that you don’t take risks!

My ‘biggest experiment’ was looked at whether we could predict what would happen to peoples memories after they had brain surgery. We tests 100’s of people before and after their operations and worked out which ones got better and which ones didn’t and why. We now use this information to help make sure that people’s memories aren’t affected too much when hey have a brain operation.

I guess the biggest risk I’ve encountered with my work hasn’t come from the science at all. I’ve been charged by bulls, snapped at by dogs, caught on barbed wire, damaged my knee… There are many risks involved in field ecology. It’s still loads of fun, though.

I haven’t really done one in work as it’s all about minimising risk! (I’m on the health and safety team).

However in baking I normally do the usual flavours (chocolate, vanilla, etc) but I did have a go at making bacon and maple syryp cupcakes. Most people loved them but some didn’t!
I’d never tried ‘savory’ ones before but they are yum.
