        It is a very complex question and I don’t think you can single out just one factor.

        We need to make sure the environment for learning about science is interesting and interactive and that is works for everyone!

        * we do experiments and outdoor classes often
        * teachers are friendly
        * we need to stop repeating gender stereotypes e.g. girls are bad at maths
        * we need to be patient, especially with children from difficult backgrounds – e.g. those living in poverty or without family

        Being a scientist isn’t for everyone- just like not everyone enjoys sports, and not everyone enjoys singing and dancing- and that’s fine!
        But I also think that science teaching isn’t as exciting as it could be. I think most teachers do an amazing job but I definitely had one or two who weren’t very engaging.
        Hopefully I’m a Scientist will be a really good opportunity for people who haven’t really been involved in science before to see how interesting it can be 😀

        I don’t think it can be singled out to one main factor. People have different interests and not everyone is going to love science, but I think there is a lot in how a subject is presented to students. If it is viewed as hard, boring and not having any impact on their life then students probably aren’t going to be that fussed by it.

        Events like this are great as hopefully you guys will get to see the variety a career in science can bring and how it does make a difference in life and isn’t just a bunch of facts that need memorising!

        I think it is the perception that science is difficult and involves a lot of calculations and difficult terms. I would say it depends on the individual.
