• Question: What do you think about the theory that what we perceive to be `Global Warming` is actually just the end of an ice age? Do you have any evidence either way?

      That’s a really good question.
Personally, I think there is much more convincing evidence that Global warming is a dangerous ‘man-made’ phenomenon and that we need to do everything we can to stop it.

The Ice Age theory ( if we think about the same theory) is mostly based on the alignment between the Earth and the Sun – it turns out that a small variation in e.g. the angle of Earth’s axis can make a huge difference to temperature.

However, now we have discovered that the correlation between the CO2 in the atmosphere and the temperatures on Earth is so strong, we cannot ignore that. Actually, it is calculated that the effect of man-made warming caused by the CO2 we emit from burning from fossil fuels is far greater than all the natural “cooling” factors we can think about (so e.g. the spots on the Sun, volcanic activity or the position of the planets)

Well from learning about the Greenhouse effect in school, one would almost think that Global warming is caused by humans but there are other sources of the CO2 and scientists spend a lot of time trying to find ways of reducing this.

I think there is a lot of convinving evidence from the experts that show it is caused by humans. The Earth does go through natural periods of climate change, but Global Warming is a deviation from that.
