Each bit of energy you save is completely worth it, because if everyone on the planet could save a little bit of energy then that would add up to a huge saving. We need to remember that even if there is enough oil for us to keep burning it for fuel until about 2090, we need that oil to make things like plastics and pharmaceutical drugs- so we really need to save as much as we can.

I think wherever you are you can save energy by encouraging your family and friends to eat less meat. Meat production uses huge amounts of energy compared to growing crops and fruit and vegetables and currently most people eat more than they need. In my opinion that’s a pretty good, simple way to save a lot of energy, that not many people think about.

There are so many ways to save energy – I think you need to pick your own battles and think whatever is most appropriate to your values and lifestyle. You can
        – fly less
        – encourage parents to drive less
        – take up cycling so you won’t drive to work when you’re older
        – eat less meat
        – eat more local and seasonal food
        – buy less stuff or buy second hand
        – volunteer!

It is worth it purely because of the nature of the challenge. It’s so global and complex that it needs everyone to participate – in whatever way they can! Plus we will need to change our lifestyles anyway as there won’t be enough resources to live the way we do now in several yrs
