Some forms of acid are, and we commonly put acids in food. For example vinegar is a type of acid called acetic acid which we put on our food. Fizzy drinks contain phosphoric acids. Vitamin C is also a type of acid called ascorbic acid, and we need some of this vitamin as part of our diet. So there’s plenty of types of acids we can eat (and do!), but the danger comes from how strong the acid is.
