• Question: does your dyslexia stop you from doing any work you have wanted to do?

      Luckily it hasn’t! Sometimes it does mean that I have to work in a slightly different way. My dyslexia isn’t as bad as some people’s though.
      I used to struggle to get the information I needed out of an exam question so that I could answer it. They always write so much additional stuff in them!

      Now, one of the things I find hard sometimes is hearing numbers spoken and writing them down – it’s like I have a brick wall where the words go into my head but my brain doesn’t compute them! Annoying this happens quite often when I am getting prices for chemicals or in the lab etc. I just ask people to say it slowly/write it down.
      In research thinking in a slightly different way can be a positive thing. You might see something that your colleague didn’t see. I’m quite good at understanding very abstract ideas, for example.
