I actually didn’t do GCSEs because I live in Scotland! I think I needed some As in our equivalent, but not all As, for example I needed an A in Chemistry and Maths but my other classes weren’t really asked about!

I didn’t need to get an A but it always helps. I did get an A in chemistry but what the GSCE is teaching you is the foundation for the next level. Understanding the theory is most important. I still have my chemistry text books from university on my desk at work in case I cannot remember something.

I got As/A*s but plenty of my friends didn’t get As and are still scientists. A woman that I work with actually failed her A-levels and now has a PhD in chemistry. Getting good grades is important because it often gives you more opportunities. However, there are still opportunities available if that doesn’t happen.
For my GCSEs I used YouTube channels like khan academy to help with stuff I didn’t know.
