If a living being were a mobile phone, cells would be the bits that make up the parts of the phone, like the screen would be made of screen ‘cells’, the battery, battery ‘cells’, the camera, camera ‘cells’ and so on.

Cells are the building blocks of living beings. Some beings have the one cell, they are the cell, others, like humans, have many many cells working toghether to exist.
