      Hi chiefs1tj 🙂

I suppose I have formally been doing science since I started my PhD in 1999. My science career looks something like this:

1999-2003 – I did my PhD in mathematical biology (using maths to look at animal movement)
2004-2006 – I worked at the Irish Marine Insititute where I used maths and computer simulations to look at fisheries problems – e.g. how many fish of a certain species can we catch each year without damaging the population too far.
2006-2011 I have worked at Essex University as a lecturer – I do science research on animal movement and behaviour and also some fisheries stuff as well. I also have to do teaching (which takes up a lot of time) and other admin jobs as well!

I suppose I have been doing science all my life though – I have always been someone to ask questions and want to find new things out. This is what science is all about!
