  When I was at school I didn’t know what I wanted to be. I knew I liked studying science (and maths) and wanted to keep on doing this for as long as possible. I went to university to do a maths degree and then wanted to carry on studying so I did research and then ended up where I am now!
  
  I guess I always thought I wanted to do something that was not an ‘ordinary’ job. I thought about a few things other than being a scientist but nothing really caught my interest and so I stuck with science.
