• Question: When you first meet someone is Science one of the first things you talk about?

      It can be, especially if we get onto the topic of what we do for a living! 🙂

      Perhaps, but I don’t go into too much detail. Sometimes scientists get really excited about their work and go on and on and can scare people off!

      Probably not, unless it is on some scientific conference – then, of course, everybody is only interested in science! But otherwise, I don’t bother people too much with the sometimes complicated stuff I am dealing with.

      Not always, if I meet a fellow geologist, then yes, in all likelyhood, the conversation will quickly turn to science. If it is someone who isn’t a scientist or in a different field to my own then I’m more likely to talk to them about other things!

      Probably with someone at work. But on the whole I say I wouldn’t attempt to talk about science. On the other hand, if I talk about my laptop, or phone, or car, or surfing, or even the weather forecast, I could be talking about science indirectly 🙂
