The most enjoyable part of my studies is the fact that my work can always be different and I’m operating in uncharted territory of physics. Scientists have never done what I’ve done before so we don’t really know what we’ll find, but I’m glad to be part of it.
I also enjoy the freedom of what I’m allowed to do, and the fact I can participate in outreach science events and get to demonstrates awesome science experiments to people like smashing flowers with Liquid Nitrogen

What I enjoy most is to come up with a new experiment that can potentially answer a long outstanding question. And when a project I’ve been on working for many months is finaly published.

      Hi jackbrownn98,

It’s fun working in the lab doing experiments. It’s also really exciting when you have some new data that tells you something new about your project that no-one knows yet!

I also get to go to conferences to show my work to other researchers and hear about their exciting new findings, next month I’m going to Edinburgh for a big Neuroscience conference.

      Hi Jackbrown98,
There are two favourite parts to my job, as the others have mentioned the bit when I get to find out something new through the work I am doing. That feeling is really awesome.

The second bit is going to conferences, because I get to show people the new work I have been doing and talk to them about my work whilst also seeing their work to. It also gives me a great chance to catch up with my friends who live abroad in places such as America or Australia.

So far it has to be the opportunities I’m getting to try different things. As well as my research I’ve been to different conferences this year, I get to take part in stuff like this, I’m a STEMnet ambassador so I can go into schools and share what’s great about my job, and I’ve been searching for ways to do my research better using different software or methods. There’s always more than one thing going on in a day and it’s great.
