I love that science is always changing, every day we find out something new, and it is so varied. Plus all these changes they affect our lives, when I was in high school, mobile phones were uncommon, they did calls and texts and that was it. Now my phone has my e-mail, social media, the internet, maps, gps as well as calls and texts all changed in a short space of time.
That speed of change just staggers me, and it is in everything we do from medicine, to communications, to transport. It is awesome.
Karlcocola,
I like that science is always changing, and there’s always new science being discovered. It’s amazing to be part of this big world of scientists, who all share knowledge for the betterment of the human race, and that because it’s always changing it’s difficult to get bored or be in a repetitive cycle.
It’s fun investigating something new that no-one has looked at before, and then piecing the parts of the puzzle together to work out what’s happening.
For example I’m trying to work out what vitamin A is doing in a part of the brain called the pineal gland.
I think it’s a bit like being a detective, you have different bits of evidence (or data) that you have to use to find out what’s going on. Except my crime scene is the brain and I have to find my own evidence by doing experiments in the lab!
The patterns that you can find within it. For example different groups of chemicals all behave in similar ways because they have something in common in their basic structure. I love seeing what patterns arise because of a certain quirk of a molecule, but also being able to spot the differences and things that break the rules.
