      Hey dougl,
As a PhD student I get paid 13500 per year, doesn’t sound like much but it’s tax free, so it’s the equivalent of about 20,000 pound per year salary.
I can also do teaching work in the university which pays around £15 per hour. Which means I can probably get another £2000 per year from that.
It’s good to live on, as I’m still classed as a student so don’t pay tax or anything. But if I stay and become a professor one day they can earn around £80,000 per year quite easily.
      Hope that answers your question
