Question: what made you interested in Neuroscience

During my A-Levels, I ended up studying maths, chemistry, biology and psychology. My psychology teacher, Miss Butler, was new the year I started Year 12, and as well as being my psychology teacher, she was also the choreographer for the school musical that year – West Side Story – for which I was the dance captain in the chorus. Having an aptitude in psychology and knowing I also enjoyed biology, I remember Miss Butler suggesting the idea of a neuroscience course to me – the study of the human brain. After her suggestion, I started exploring the option of neuroscience as well as the biomedical science course option, and arranged university open days to universities which did both courses. I ended up choosing biomedical sciences at Manchester University, and then I switched to studying neuroscience in my second year. If you’re unsure about which subject, definitely pick a university where you can change course between year 1 and 2 (like Manchester).
