      As a scientist the coldest material I’ve worked with is liquid helium, which is -270 degrees Celsius. The hottest material I’ve worked with is a plasma, which I think was a few million degrees Celsius (but only a very small amount, so doesn’t look very impressive).

      The hottest substance was lava when I was in Hawaii! The coldest was probably when I jumped into Lake Baikal in Siberia in November many years ago!
