A parallel universe is simply another universe that exists, like our own. But it’s very unlikely that we’ll ever be able to prove that parallel universes truly exist.

It’s mind-boggling to think that if there are infinite parallel universes, then does that mean there are infinite versions of ourselves? In this universe I may be an astronomer but in another perhaps I am a ballerina!

Some physicists think that there might be more than just our universe, there are lots and lots. There could be many versions of you, each slightly different to each other.

These are all just theories – nobody has invented an experiment yet that can test whether these theories are real. And as Hannah said, it might not even be possible to build an experiment that could tell.

The theories are quite fun though. One theory says that every time you make a decision, the universe splits into two new ones. In one universe you decided to do something, and in the other you didn’t…..

(But lots of scientists would argue against this theory)
