I think the government should place more restrictions on companies whose effects are detrimental to the environment, and put more incentives on green technology and practices.

More benefits / reduce costs of truly green energy / activities, increased cost of those that are causing harm to the planet. One of the biggest problems is the developments in many newer industrial countries, so we need a world wide approach, including education. I think there’s a need to work on influencing those who don’t believe in climate change too.

I’m not an expert on this, so this is just my opinion. I think the government should introduce new laws that try to reduce the resources and energy we use, for example, banning plastic bags in shops is trying to reduce plastic waste. I think soon you will be able to take plastic bottle back to a supermarket and get some money back for doing so.

But there’s also big changes that could be made. The government could choose only to invest in energy sources that don’t produce many greenhouse gases. They could say to companies that if they make better products that produce less waste, they’ll charge them less tax, and if they’re bad, they’ll charge the more. Or help make sure that any new homes are built with good insulation, and that people who might not be able to afford it, are helped to insulate old homes.

It’s really complicated because sometimes new laws have a negative side effects, so things need to be done carefully, but that doesn’t mean we should stop trying.
