No. We simply don’t have enough information on its effects on our body to be sure its benefits outweigh its risks. When tobacco was first sold, nobody know how damaging it could be (it is still the MAIN cause of all lung cancer) – it was only 30 years later we learned the real damage it could do. The same could be said for alcohol too – but I think it is fair to say that everyone knows the consequences of drinking too much too frequently. The same cannot be said for cannabis, I’m afraid.
It is very important to test drugs before we take them legal so we know what the effects are. Cannabis has not had these tests and therefore it needs to been proven to have a good therapeutic effect (to heal an illness) which is significantly greater than the risks before we can even consider making it legal.
I dont think it should be legalised as more people will start using it, however, I think it should be used / explored in the treatment of some diseases as it has been demonstarted to dramatically improve the symptoms associated with some diseases like mulitple sclerosis.
