I’ve always been interested in animal welfare from being a little kid so I had some idea about animal experimentation. When I was looking for a job at the end of my degree I found the one at FRAME and that made look into the issues more closely and it was then that I decided that it was something that I did feel strongly about. When I looked at the different arguments I noticed that they tended to be either strongly for or strongly against it e.g. that animal experiments must be done no matter what or that they must stop immediately. I realised that neither of these arguments will really help one way or another. So I decided that I wanted to do work that would help me to actually find alternatives rather than just saying we should use them and that would allow me to work with the scientists involved in the experiments rather than having a go at them. This is because I think that cooperation will be the only way that we can end animal testing.
