I did maths, chemistry and biology A levels and then I did a science degree in Pharmacology (involving writen assignments and exams) followed by a PhD in Pharmacology and Neuroscience (you have to write what is called a thesis to pass the PhD which is a long, in depth written account of what you have done in three years, followed by an oral exam). Science covers many different topics and I didnt really even know what pharmacology was until I started doing it at Uni. In this respect this kind of ‘Im a scientist’ event is great because it gives school pupils a chance to see some of the different types of jobs that are out there.
I did Physics, Chemistry and Biology at A-level, then an undergraduate degree (BSc) in Life Sciences, a Masters Degree in Computer Science then finally a PhD. It has been a long but enjoyable journey (most of the time!)
