• Question: do sheep get heavier when it rains?????

      I don’t think so because as far as I know their wooly coats are water repellant.

      I suppose if you weighed a dry sheep and then let it get soaked in a downpour and weighed it again, it would be heavier when it was all wet because so much water would be sticking in its fur? (I am thinking of a big fluffy sheep, might get a different result with one that had just been sheared?). Then again when a sheep dries out it doesn’t shrink so maybe the water doesn’t penetrate the fur. I am tempted to find a sheep and try now 🙂

      Yes, if they soak up some water which adds to their weight.

      If they avoid the rain then they won’t get heavier.
