      Certainly.

      However, we need to not only do the research but also change our attitudes. Even the simple act of washing your hands properly in a hospital drastically reduces the chance of spreading MRSA.

      we need new antibiotics with novel modes of action. Our research helped identifying some new drug leads from natural products with their ability to kill MRSA in the lab. New rapid diagnostic techniques for early detection of drug resistance and effective treatment should beat MRSA.

    When it comes to beating infections there are 2 things that we can do. The first is stopping the infection for starting in the first place. This means having effective infection control procedures in place. This includes things like washing hands. The second is working on the infection itself. Targeting the resistance gene and curing the infection. So, if we get these two right I think we have a good chance!
