You can’t really use bacteria to fight bacteria but you can use good bacteria to stop you getting bad bacteria. I see your intestines like a tennis lawn. Really tightly packed blades of grass (good bacteria). There is no room for the weeds to take root (bad bacteria). If you take antibiotics inappropriately you make big bald patches in the grass (good bacteria). This can allow the weeds to get in. So, the moral of the story is to make sure you keep your good bacteria healthy!
Sometimes we can get chemicals called bacteriocins from bacteria that help us to stop the growth of other bacteria and we could use these as a basis for development of treatments, but we don’t pit bacteria against bacteria, though now i have an image of bacteria fighting gladiator style in my head 🙂
