I think probably at school, in science lessons, or more independently at university doing my final year project. At uni was the first time i had to plan a longer set of experiments and work independently towards answering a research question.

I went to school in Scotland so I did Highers & Sixth Year Studies. The first science project that I remember was during my Sixth Year and it looked at the elasticity of gluten. I made dough balls from flour and washed them in a pair of tights. What remained in the tights was gluten. I then tied weights to it to see which type of flour had the most elastic gluten. I cannay mind which flour won but I made a mess trying to find out!!
