Have you heard of Ketamine? Ketamine is a very good anaesthetic, which we use in some experiments to induce anaesthesia. It is supposed to also have hallucinogenic properties. I don’t know for myself what the effects would be, but I should have thought that it would have worn off before the operation was finished. (Don’t worry, the anaesthesia is kept going by using anaesthetic gases).

I was going to say the axact same as Anita! We use ketamine for anaesthesia, to make the mice fall asleep, and that can be hallucinogenic!!

      Hi Comradetrinder

We also use ketamine for anaesthesia. But the simple answer for a lot of the drugs I’m working with is we don’t know! Because they have never been used before we might not find out until they are used in human trials. Chemists are quite good at predicting which drugs might be hallucinogenic before we use them, but the brain is so complex sometimes there can be unexpected side effects.
