I think that depends on what exactly happens to the money. I’m thinking about 60 students but that would be giving them the time, attention and support they need in making the decision about what to study, giving them opportunities to do projects with the university whilst at school, and supporting them at university.

I’d use it to fund our student outreach scheme. Where we give students a competition for the best ideas and activities for engaging with the public.
My plan would be to offer a £250 first prize, and give the runners up £50 each. The prize would be for the best outreach activity performed by our students.
Last year we did this as a “whip round” among their teachers and gave just one £100 prize. But we only had 10 entries. The winner was a girl who’d visited 5 local schools to talk about her course and developed a whole 1 hour lesson about what it’s like to go to university.
With more money and more prizes we hope for more students to go for it and get out there!
