Not yet! Our work places are heavily regulated and we have planned procedures for everything we do, so the chances of accidents are probably lower than in the home.
I managed to close the lid of a centrifuge (it was quite a heavy one) on my thumb. Though I was ok until I took my glove off and saw blood! It was only a little and needed a plaster and I had a sore thumb for a couple of days:(
Like PB said , everything is regulated so we are safe:)
I’ve managed to get bitten by a mouse! It was my own fault though – it was my first time working with mice, and mice can feel it if you’re nervous. But all our mice are very clean and don’t carry any diseases, so I just had a little nick on my finger is all.
We work with things that could be very dangerous if you weren’t careful, but if we make sure to always be careful and follow the rules, then we’re fine!
One day I blew the door clean off a microwave because I didnt loosen a bottle lid. Another time I set fire to myself with a bunsen burner. Apart from that, I’ve been okay (touch wood)- we work with bacteria and so have to work in a specific way to avoid contamination.
