Hi Harrison! I haven’t no, I have had other jobs whilst I studied my degree, but my main job has always been in science! Other things I have done whilst I studied are worked for a clothes shop, as a gymnastics coach, and a student maths and science tutor! Until you choose a full-time job it’s a great idea to experiment with part time jobs and work experience to see what you enjoy. Whilst I was at university, I chose a degree which has a year gap in the middle where you get a job in science, so I went to work for GSK (a company which make medicines) for a year! I loved working here and this is what made me want to have science as my full-time job.
Hi Harrison, when I was still studying in high school, I had a part-time job that wasn’t related to science, but I always knew that I wanted to become a scientist because of the subjects that I enjoyed at school. Later on, I did some teaching and tutoring too but it was always alongside my research at university. Now I’ve moved away from research in a university to helping in hospital labs, so even though I set out on one path, it is possible to change your career.
