Question: But that brown fat isn’t it dangerous, what happens if it makes you lose all the calories? How do you specify that fat to burn a certain amount of calories and not to burn all the calories?
Hi Ignacio, brown fat is not dangerous and people with more brown fat are usually leaner and more active. Brown fat has limited burning potential and the experts have calculated that in average brown fat can burn up to 200 kcal per day in a healthy person. Moreover, the activity of brown fat is regulated by different signals from the brain and hormones to adapt to what our body needs.
Even if we increase the amount of brown fat or we make it more active it would not be enough to consume all your energy, but can help obese patients to reduce their weight in a controlled manner.
