A couple of layers line our eyesballs, and in the centre there are two transparent gels, the aqueous humor and the virtreous humor, and the iris and lens that separate them. These all help the light get through and focus it so that it arrives at the back of the eye where we have specialised cells that detect light and allow us to see!
