In English the names of days follow the Germanic tradition rather than the Roman tradition.
Sunday from the Sun goddess Sunna, Monday from the Moon good Máni, Tueday from the God Tiw , the equivalent of the Roman Mars, Wednesday from Woden/Odin, the equivalent of Zeus, Thursday from the thunder God Thor and Friday from the goddess Freya. Saturday is the exception where in English it follows the Roman tradition by naming the day after Saturn.
